Advances in Bioenergy

Aim & scope

The Advances in Bioenergy book series, published by Elsevier, provides comprehensive, peer-reviewed, and in-depth analyses of both emerging and foundational topics across the bioenergy field. Its primary goal is to bridge academic research and industrial application by compiling contributions from leading international experts. Each volume explores recent developments in bioenergy systems, with a particular emphasis on technologies that convert biomass and waste into fuels, chemicals, and value-added products. In addition, the series highlights techno-economic assessments, life cycle analyses, and environmental implications, offering a holistic perspective on the feasibility and sustainability of bioenergy technologies.

The series covers a broad spectrum of topics, including bioenergy and biofuels, anaerobic digestion, waste valorization, biopolymer synthesis, lignocellulosic biomass conversion, hydrogen production, carbon capture and utilization, and microbial engineering. Recent volumes have embraced interdisciplinary approaches by integrating bioenergy with circular economy strategies and examining the social, economic, and regulatory dimensions of energy transitions. Each chapter is designed to present both technical detail and fundamental principles, making the series suitable not only for academic researchers and graduate students, but also for industry professionals, policymakers, and engineers seeking to implement bioenergy technologies at scale.

All submitted chapters undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure scientific quality and relevance. Global leaders in bioenergy research are invited to contribute their expertise, and collaborative, multi-author efforts are encouraged to foster interdisciplinary insight. Scholars interested in contributing to future volumes are encouraged to contact the series editor directly for more information.
