Pressure continues, but resilience is rising

Pressure remains high. Sixty-one percent of clinicians are seeing more patients than a year ago, and tiredness continues to affect care.

But the picture is not one-note. Sixty-five percent still believe they have enough time to provide good care.

One gap stands out. Nurses are often more positive than doctors across key measures, yet many still feel their views are not adequately represented in organizational decision-making.

The impact of AI

AI has gone mainstream. Half of clinicians say it is improving patient care today, and 49% use it for work.

Use of specialist tools is rising. Among AI users, 56% use generalist tools frequently or always, while frequent use of clinical-specific tools has risen to 34%, up from 22% in 2025.

But adoption is uneven. Doctors are more likely to use AI at work, while nurses are more positive about its impact on care, autonomy and trustworthiness.

Confidence will grow when tools are easy to use, comprehensive, safe, transparent and built on quality sources, giving healthcare institutions and technology providers a clear mandate for what comes next.

Discover what nurses are telling us

61% of nurses are seeing more patients than a year ago, underlining the sustained pressure on the profession.

41% of nurses say their views are never or rarely adequately represented in organizational decision-making. 19% of doctors also say nurses aren't adequately represented.

Nurses bring a distinct perspective on the future of care. Explore the Clinician of the Future 2026 Nursing Edition for deeper insights into workload, representation, trust in AI and what it will take to support nurses in the years ahead.
