Please briefly describe who you are and your role.

I am a diagnostic radiologist who formerly served in the United States Air Force. I am now working for several different hospital-based practices in the United States.

What problems were you attempting to solve when you started using STATdx?

I first became aware of STATdx as a resident. It was useful for looking up differential diagnoses on tough cases. It was also a fantastic resource for looking up disease processes that you don’t encounter often. I became so dependent on STATdx that I continued to use it as a staff physician. I served overseas in an American hospital in Germany, and we were provided with a group subscription to STATdx. This was an absolutely invaluable resource as I no longer had the benefits of a resident library or fellowship-trained staff to seek help from. I used STATdx consistently to fill this void.

From your point of view, what are the biggest benefits you have found in using STATdx in your day-to-day routine?

STATdx ensures that I am thinking of all possibilities when I encounter a tough case. Some entries have important measurements or follow-up parameters that I can double-check before finalizing my report. This all ensures that the patient gets the best, up-to-date care possible. Additionally, looking at example pictures of disease processes helps ensure that I am on the right track. I often work from home without the benefit of having a colleague next door to ask for help. STATdx is my “colleague next door”, allowing me to look up answers to difficult questions.

How do you use STATdx in your day-to-day workflow?

I use STATdx countless times during a busy shift. I have it pulled up on a background web browser so it is easily accessible. I have also used STATdx as CME for certain state requirements.

If you had a colleague who was considering STATdx, what would you tell them?

I would say STATdx helps me be the best radiologist I can be. It is a source of comfort for difficult cases, and it provides me with confidence when constructing a differential diagnosis or recommendations about what should come next. I could not practice without it.
