Dr. Kun Yan Zhu is a University Distinguished Professor at Kansas State University (KSU) in Manhattan, Kansas, United States. He earned his Ph.D. in Biology from Utah State University in 1992 and completed postdoctoral research at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst from 1992 to 1995. He joined KSU as an Assistant Professor of Entomology in 1996, was promoted to Associate Professor in 2002, and Full Professor in 2007. In 2017, he was named University Distinguished Professor of Entomology, a lifetime title that represents the highest honor bestowed upon faculty at KSU. Dr. Zhu’s research lies at the interface of insect toxicology and molecular biology. His interests include the mechanisms of insecticide resistance, insect chitin biosynthesis and metabolism, the mechanisms and applications of RNA interference, and the development of innovative approaches for insect pest management. He has authored or co-authored more than 260 peer-reviewed journal articles, 20 book chapters, and delivered over 520 presentations, including 195 invited talks. Dr. Zhu is a Fellow of both the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Entomological Society of America. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Pesticide Biochemistry and Physiology.
