CONTRAST transport schemas

The Elsevier workflow is fully XML based. External content suppliers receive orders in the form of XML messages, and they deliver the content to Elsevier in a format called CONTRAST (CONtent TRAnsport STandard). The standard provides rules and conventions for dataset deliveries. Each dataset is accompanied by a dataset description file that is structured according to a W3C schema. Since new versions of these schemas are published frequently, they are not posted here; contact us for more information. The latest version of the CONTRAST-in documentation is provided below.

CONTRAST is also used as an output format to deliver content from Elsevier's Electronic Warehouse to online content repositories. New schemas for these deliveries are published frequently. The latest version of the out-schemas for journals and books as well as the CONTRAST-out documentation are provided below.
