Lina Niu
Air Force Medical University, Xian, China
Professor Lina Niu, Dean of the Third Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University, the Changjiang Scholars Distinguished Young Professor of the Ministry of Education in China, has been awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and Excellent Young Scholars (“The Fund”) by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (“NSFC”). She has been engaged in the application of biomimetic mineralization in hard tissue regeneration for years. Her major scientific contributions encompass: 1.With the use of non-collagenous matrix protein biomimetic analogs, the applicant successfully conducted an intrafibrillar calcification system;2. She developed a strategy for intrafibrillar silicification of type I collagen and proved the osteogenesis and angiogenesis potential of the silicified collagen scaffolds;3. She reported a new concept of multiphase mineralization, bridging the fields of biomimetic calcification and biomimetic silicification. The above findings are valuable for the discovery of biomineralization mechanism and the development of new hard tissue regeneration materials. She has published more than160 articles as first/corresponding author in the peer-reviewed journals, such as Nature Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, with H-index reaching 52. She is hosting 38 patents and 21 grants. With her team, she has been awarded with honors of the first prize of science and technology progress award of china stomatological association, the first prize of science and technology progress award of shaanxi province, IADR Toshio Nakao Fellowship, first prize of IADR/Unilever Hatton Divisional Award, World Chinese Dental Association distinguished young investigator and the distinguished young investigator in Shaanxi province.
