Sweitze Roffel

Sweitze Roffel is the first Business Developer at the Department of Computer Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he develops strategic partnerships across Artificial Intelligence & Data, Software, Systems, Theory, and Cybersecurity. With more than twenty years of international experience at the intersection of science, technology, policy, and business, he connects academic expertise with societal and economic impact.

Previously, he was the publisher of prestigious international journals in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science at the world’s largest scientific publishing house. Drawing on his in-depth knowledge and extensive international network across these communities, he advises business, government, non-profits, and research organizations on international positioning and collaboration within research, innovation, and digitalization.

Sweitze holds an engineering degree in Technical Chemistry from the University of Groningen, where he first became fascinated by the possibilities enabled by the emerging digital world. This fascination remains the defining thread throughout his international career at the intersection of science, technology, and society.
