Prof. Dr. Mohd Hasbi Ab Rahim

Professor ChM. Dr. Mohd Hasbi Bin Ab Rahim is the Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) and a Professor of Industrial Chemistry. His research spans catalysis, sustainable energy, biomass valorisation, advanced functional materials, and the conversion of renewable resources into high-value chemicals and sustainable fuels.

With over 21 years of academic and research experience, he has published extensively in prestigious journals, including Science, Angewandte Chemie, and ACS Catalysis, and has generated 12 intellectual properties (IPs) from his research. He has established strong collaborations with industry, securing competitive industrial research grants and consultancy projects with both national and multinational companies.

Recognised as one of Malaysia's Top Research Scientists (TRSM), Professor Hasbi has also served as a visiting professor in Austria, Sweden, China, and Italy. He currently leads strategic initiatives to strengthen research excellence, accelerate technology commercialisation, foster industry–academia partnerships, and advance innovation ecosystems that translate research into industrial and societal impact.
