Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Affero Ismail

Affero Ismail is the Head of the UTHM-Labtech Digital Innovation Centre (DICE), UNEVOC Centre Coordinator, UNESCO Chair on TVET Educator at UTHM and Affiliate Researcher at Malaysia Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training. He served as an expert on loan at UNESCO-UNEVOC, Bonn Germany from 2024 to 2025.

With over 18 years of experience, he specializes in digitalization, teaching and learning, research methodology, statistics, human resource management, computer networks, multimedia, information technology, training evaluation, supervision, curriculum development, apprenticeship, teacher training, and greening in TVET. His work focuses on capacity development for TVET personnel, developing training materials, supporting climate change education, strengthening partnerships, and promoting innovation and initiatives related to TVET teacher training.

Affero holds a Ph.D. in TVET, M.Sc. in Human Resource and B.Sc. in Computer and Communication Systems Engineering. He has completed various professional certifications, including a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from the Australian Institute of Technology Transfer, CCAI/CCNA from Cisco, and a Certificate in IT System Engineering from Tokyo Polytechnic University. Additionally, he served as a Research Assistant at the University of Bremen, Germany. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including MBOT, AASVET, MySET, and the Young Scientists Network–Academy of Sciences Malaysia. His roles as a panel assessor include appointments with MBOT, the Department of Skills Development, the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), and the Ministry of Education.

With extensive experience in Open and Distance Learning (ODL), Affero has served as an MQA Panel Assessor for ODL programs, led the Digital Innovation Centre at UTHM, and conducted research projects in greening, ICT, and digital learning.

His research focuses on digital competencies, 21st-century skills, and innovative teaching methods, and his work has been published in various reputable journals.
