Dr. Peter Katsikis, M.D., Ph.D., is Professor & Head of the Department of Immunology at Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Previously he worked at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, Stanford University School of Medicine and Drexel University College of Medicine. His scientific interests have spanned autoimmunity, infectious diseases and cancer. His work focuses on the requirements of CD8 T cell immunity in infection and cancer. Dr. Katsikis’ research has investigated the role of antigen, co-stimulation and cytokines in effector & memory CD8 T cell responses and CD8 T cell exhaustion. In cancer, Dr. Katsikis has been developing novel vaccine strategies for hard-to-treat cold tumors and interventions to overcome T cell dysfunction.
