Jindal Shah

Associate Professor

Oklahoma State University, USA

Dr. Jindal Shah is currently an Associate Professor and Anadarko Petroleum Chair in the School of Chemical Engineering at Oklahoma State University. He received his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay. His graduate degrees include an M. S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Ph. D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

He spent a couple of years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Multiscale Modeling of Biological Interaction at the Ohio State University before returning to Notre Dame as an Assistant Research Professor. He joined OSU as a tenure-track faculty member in 2014. His research interests include molecular modeling and simulations coupled with electronic structure calculations and machine learning approaches for the discovery of novel ionic liquids and ionic liquid mixtures for potential applications in batteries, energy storage devices, and CO2 capture. He has been a lead developer of the open-source Monte Carlo molecular modeling package Cassandra. Dr. Shah is a recipient of a NSF CAREER award and 2020 Distinguished Early Career Faculty Award at OSU for his contribution to research, teaching, and service. For his teaching, he received the Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award by graduate students for three consecutive years. He has also been recognized with Excellent Teacher Award by the College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology at OSU. In 2018, he was named as one of the twenty five emerging investigators who will define the field of chemical thermodynamics by Journal of Chemical and Engineering Data.
