Dr. Hideki Hasegawa, M.D., Ph.D., is Director of the Influenza Research Center and WHO Collaborating Centre at NIID, Japan Institute for Health Security. A virologist and pathologist, he focuses on emerging infectious diseases, mucosal immunology, and influenza vaccines. He has characterized pandemic and avian influenza pathology, investigated SFTS, and advanced intranasal inactivated influenza vaccine development. His work on secretory IgA has contributed to mucosal vaccine strategies, including a COVID-19 recombinant protein vaccine. Dr. Hasegawa earned his degrees from Hokkaido University and completed postdoctoral training at The Rockefeller University and University College Dublin.
