Herminia Domínguez is professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Vigo. She is part of the Biomass and Sustainable Development group, where she works on the integral valorization of underutilized or residual agroindustrial and algal biomass. The studies are aimed at designing cascade processes using emerging extraction and fractionation technologies to obtain components of interest in food, cosmetic, or pharmaceutical applications. Special emphasis is given to the extraction with supercritical carbon dioxide and subcritical water and the fractionation and concentration with membrane technology.
