Dong-Hwa Seo

KAIST, South Korea

Dong-Hwa Seo is an Associate Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology KAIST. He received his Ph.D. from KAIST in 2011 and conducted postdoctoral research at Seoul National University, MIT, and UC Berkeley. Prior to joining KAIST in 2023, he worked at Samsung Research America and UNIST. His research focuses on the atomistic modeling and design of electrode and electrolyte materials for rechargeable batteries, using first principles calculations and molecular dynamics simulations to elucidate fundamental mechanisms and guide materials optimization. He also leads efforts in data driven materials discovery through high throughput computational methods and machine learning, along with the development of autonomous laboratories that integrate artificial intelligence, automated experimental systems, and robotics to accelerate materials innovation.
