Brendan Higgins is a Professor in Biosystems Engineering at Auburn University. His research group’s mission is to investigate processes that utilize algae and bacteria for waste remediation, water quality, plant production, and high-value product synthesis. We seek to understand underlying mechanisms that contribute to system performance, with a particular focus on organism interaction. He holds a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University, an MS in Transportation Technology & Policy from UC Davis, and a PhD in Biological Systems Engineering from UC Davis. He is the principal investigator on over $14 million in competitive extramural funding and has published 72 peer reviewed articles.
