Arsène Chemin

Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France

Dr. Arsène Chemin is an Associate Professor (Maître de conférences) at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and a researcher at the Institut Lumière Matière (ILM). His research explores the physics and chemistry of diamond surfaces and interfaces, from boron-doped diamond electrodes to functionalized nanodiamonds, combining synchrotron-based X-ray spectroscopy with lab-based characterization. He is developing a unified framework for how charge transfers and equilibrates between diamond and its environment, with implications across fields — from NV-center quantum sensing to (photo)electrochemical energy conversion and solvated-electron emission. This cross-cutting view highlights the impact of surface and interface science across the full breadth of diamond technologies.
