Major Research Achievements and Academic Contributions
Professor Shang-Hsiu Hu's recent research focuses on innovative nanocomposite biomaterials, tumor-targeted drug delivery, immunotherapy for metastatic tumors, and neural tissue repair and regeneration. By integrating cross-disciplinary technologies including nanomaterials, interfacial engineering, drug delivery, and immunomodulation, her group has established a number of innovative therapeutic platforms with significant potential for biomedical applications.
In the area of lung-targeted metastatic tumor therapy and immune modulation, her team has developed nanocarrier delivery systems with lung-selective accumulation and tumor immune microenvironment modulation capabilities to enhance treatment efficacy against metastatic tumors, with findings published in leading international journals such as ACS Nano and Small. In the field of active tumor targeting and drug delivery, she has developed multifunctional nanocarriers that improve tumor recognition, tissue penetration, drug accumulation, and therapeutic efficiency, with results published in journals including Journal of Controlled Release. In the field of neural repair and regenerative medicine, her team has developed injectable porous microspheres and functional biomaterials that integrate cellular microenvironment modulation with drug and gene delivery strategies to promote neural tissue repair and regeneration, with findings published in prestigious journals such as Advanced Materials, Advanced Science, and Nature Communications.
In addition to her research, Professor Hu is actively engaged in international academic services. She serves as an Editorial Board Member for international journals including Journal of Controlled Release and Pharmaceutics, and serves as the Taiwan representative to the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE), contributing to international exchange and collaboration in the field of biomaterials science and continuously enhancing Taiwan's global connectivity and visibility in the fields of biomaterials, drug delivery, and nanomedicine.
