Skin is a mysterious organ that acts as the interface between the inner organs of the human and the outer environment. Since it is the
only organ that we can readily see with our eyes and touch with our hands much importance is emphasized on new and beneficial forms of
skin care development. This volume present papers from the Shiseido Science Symposium in Tokyo, Japan, gathering together an infinite
number of exciting issues that explore the skin using the molecular biology techniques available today in the life sciences. The skin
is examined
not just from the usual, localized perspective but rather as a crucial organ essential to the maintenance of human life.
Its study is used to approach the mysterious connection between mind and body. Proper skin care and treatment not only helps preserve
the skin's biophysical equilibrium but can also help precipitate a biophysical virtuous cycle of beneficial results. Despite protective
functions of the skin, technological advances of modern life have greatly increased the possibility of skin damage. It is in this concept
