We spend a lot of time thinking about (and even more time researching) the best ways to reward our people. We think our programs are best of class. Here's a sampling of what we can offer:
Rewards. We strive to make sure that our salaries are at par with comparable positions in each market. Of course, there are other forms of compensation and we work hard to make sure our benefits package meets the needs of our people. Enough said. Now let's move on to a few really important points.
Growth. We're committed to providing an environment that encourages our people to take responsibility for their personal development and to equip them with skills for life. We have a number of innovative programmes including:
- Our Performance and Development Program (PDP) helps managers and employees work together to create programs that encourage continuous improvement and personal development.
- We have a host of internal training Programs and we offer study assistance for employees who wish to pursue long-term study.
- We have a philosophy that says that to accomplish effective change commitment is required from all levels of the organization (particularly management). We have programs on a range of topics including quality, coaching, presentation skills and conflict resolution.
Other important points. One of the things that make our company unique is breadth of opportunity. Start your career at Elsevier; finish your career at Elsevier. A lot of people do. The possibilities are endless. You can start a career in production and finish your career in marketing. You can work in New York for a few years and, if the right opportunity exists, you can end up living and working in Amsterdam (or Singapore or Oxford).
