Remko originally stared his career on the docks of the local harbours. After
nine years, he decided that there was more to life and took the decision to
sit for the University entrance exams. In 1998 he graduated with a degree in
International Finance and Economics.
Around December of that same year, Remko joined Elsevier as a student doing
credit checks. As time passed he was promote to the ranks of financial
assistant, cash manager, manager accounts receivable and last but not least:
General Manager Accounts Receivable in 2001. In this role Remko has global
responsibility for all cash handling, all outstanding debt and all bank
affairs. He is also the first point of contact for treasury.
Why Elsevier? Remko likes this global, dynamic company, it is innovative,
challenging and has an open culture.
How about his passion? Rugby is everything: energy, freedom, no time to think,
