Hugo was appointed Elsevier's Managing Director of Science & Technology in China in September of 2008. He brings a wealth of experience in strategic planning, publishing, and publicity from both within and outside of the publishing industry. Prior to joining Elsevier in 2007 as Business Development and Marketing Director responsible for S&T books sales and business development in greater China and Korea, Hugo held diverse management roles within the Chinese Central Government including the Director of Book Publishing Policy Programs in the Publicity Department. Paul has been a tireless contributor to the development of publishing in emerging markets including India, China, Latin America and Eastern Europe and has met many specialists in research globally as part of Elsevier’s outreach activities. He is currently Senior Vice president of publishing and research relations and looked after international publishing development until recently. Previously he worked as Vice President for S & T China, where he forged close links with the Chinese scientific community to help promote the best of Chinese research.
