The Microsoft Research - University of Trento Centre for Computational and Systems Biology: BioComplex 2008 Meeting

Description
To reflect developments in the field, Gene now requires a higher level of analysis and functional relevance in all manuscripts. Submission of derivative / descriptive work of a simply confirmatory nature of well established findings is discouraged. Such work, however, is welcome, if it clearly helps to improve the essential basis of knowledge for subsequent functional studies. Articles describing databases should include interpretation, explicit relevance to research, or other value-added elements.

Manuscripts addressing Evolutional Genomics should emphasize comparative genomic structures.

Manuscripts addressing phylogeny are better suited to other journals.

Manuscripts addressing Functional Genomics should preferably be focused on the following areas: chromatin and transcription, genomic and computational biology, genome stability and dynamics, epigenomics.

Studies addressing gene regulation and interaction are encouraged.

TYPES OF PAPERS: regular research papers, method papers, reviews, letters to the editor. All reports should explicitly state the biological relevance of the function that is the subject of the paper.

Methods papers will be considered only if they are of general importance with considerable original and useful information. Minor improvements to existing methods are not acceptable.

Letters to the Editor are selected for publication that are pertinent to material published in GENE or that discuss problems of general interest. The author of a paper in question is usually given an opportunity to reply.

Reviews or Mini-reviews will be generally solicited by the Editors of the journal. However, prospective authors interested in contributing such a paper are invited to contact the Editor-in-Chief.
