| David R H Jones studies Natural Sciences at Christ's College, Cambridge and graduated in 1967 with a first-class degree in Materials Science.
In 1971 he was awarded a PhD in Metallurgy by Cambridge University and was elected to a Fellowship at Christ's College. In 1974 he was
appointed to a faculty position at the Department of Metallurgy at Cambridge, and moved in 1978 to a senior faculty position in the Department
of Engineering. He has published extensively in the field of materials engineering, and has authored the textbooks "Engineering Materials
1 - An Introduction to their Properties and Applications" (with M F Ashby, 2nd Edition, Butterworth Heinemann, 1996), "Engineering Materials
2 - An Introduction to Microstructures, Processing and Design" (with M F Ashby, Pergamon, 1986) and " Engineering Materials 3 - Materials
Failure Analysis; Case Studies and Design Implications" (Pergamon 1993). He runs a busy consultancy practice specialising in failure
analysis, and has worked extensively with lawyers, insurers and industrial personnel. |
