Journal of Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity



The Alpha Omegan is the official journal of The Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity and is published to serve its members. Articles, case studies, reviews, and reports that have not previously published will be considered for publication. Send manuscripts to: Dr. Fred S. MANUSCRIPTS
Submit two typewritten copies (original and duplicate) of the entire manuscript. All materials should be double-spaced on one side of 8½x11-inch paper. Margins of at least one inch must be provided and the pages should be numbered. The contributing author's name, address, email address, and telephone/fax numbers must be listed on the title page. The Alpha Omegan requests contributors to accompany their written material with a copy on a computer diskette. Please use a 3.5-inch diskette formatted for IBM compatible systems with the word processing software clearly indicated (preferably MS Word).
Articles should not exceed 3,000 words in length, including tables, references, and legends. The publisher reserves the right to edit manuscripts to fit the available space and to ensure conciseness, clarity, and stylistic consistency. Titles of articles should be descriptive, but as concise as possible.

REFERENCES
References must be listed double-spaced on a separate sheet of paper. All references must be cited in the text numbered in the order of appearance. Do not include unpublished data or personal communications in the reference list; cite these parenthetically in the text and provide a date. References to journals must give the author(s) name(s) with initials, article title, journal title as abbreviated in Index Medicus, year of publication, volume number, and first and last page numbers. References to books must give the author(s) name(s) with initials, title of chapter, editor(s) names, title of book and edition, place of publication, publisher, year of publication, and first and last page numbers. TABLES
Tables must be provided on a separate sheet, typed, and numbered consecutively. Do not draw rules on the tables.

ILLUSTRATIONS
Illustrations include all material that cannot be set in type, such as photographs, slides, line drawings, graphs, and charts. Illustrations must be numbered and cited in the text. Photographs must be unmounted and untrimmed and must be either high quality black and white or color, glossy prints or slides. Radiographs must be mounted. Each illustration must have the contributing author's name, figure number and an arrow indicating ?top? typed on a gummed label and affixed to the back. Figures, charts, and graphs must be drawn professionally. Lettering must be large and clear. Authors must retain negatives and duplicate radiographs. Illustrations will be returned to the author upon request only.

PERMISSIONS AND WAIVERS
When material has published previously (i.e., text, photos, and drawings) permission must be obtained from the owner of the copyright, usually the publisher. Letters of consent must be obtained for photographs of patients where the possibility of identification exists. Alternatively, eyes may be masked out to prevent identification.

REVIEW
The Alpha Omegan will referee scientific articles at the request of the contributor. The names of referees are confidential, but their comments will be returned to the contributor so that when necessary the article may be edited to conform to the requirements of the referee.

CONTRIBUTOR'S COPIES
On request, up to 10 free copies of the Alpha Omegan will be provided to contributors. Reprints of 100 copies or more may be obtained from the publisher. Reprint ordering information is included with author page proofs.

The author should also enclose a photo and a brief biosketch with the article. The biosketch should be on the diskette as well.
