including Molecular Interventions

Guide for Authors

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Ron Waksman, MD

- INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS -

Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine (CRM) is an international and multidisciplinary journal that publishes articles related to preclinical work and molecular interventions including angiogenesis, cell therapy, pharmacological interventions, restenosis management and prevention, including experiments conducted in human subjects, laboratory animals, and in vitro. Specific content areas of interest include percutaneous angioplasty in coronary and peripheral arteries, intervention in structural heart disease, cardiovascular surgery, congenital heart disease, coronary heart disease, epidemiology, genetics, health services and outcomes research, invasive imaging, molecular cardiology, preventive cardiology, and vascular medicine.

It is a condition of publication that manuscripts submitted to CRM have not been published and will not be simultaneously submitted or published elsewhere. CRM uses the "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals," 5th ed (N Engl J Med 1997;336:309-315) as well as the American Medical Association Manual of Style, 9th ed.

Manuscript Submission: All new manuscripts must be submitted through the CRM online submission and review Web site (External link http://ees.elsevier.com/crm). Note that manuscripts submitted prior to April 2, 2007 will be processed in the previous system. The cover letter should state precisely and concisely the significance and uniqueness of the work in the authors' view.

Text: Manuscripts should be typed, double-spaced throughout, including references, on 8.5" x 11" paper. Manuscripts should have a title page that includes manuscript title, authors' names with degrees, institutional affiliation at the time of research, a complete address, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail address of the corresponding author, and a statement concerning any financial relationship between any of the authors and the subject matter. Include a 2-to-6-word suggested running head on the title page.

Acronyms and other abbreviations should be first defined and then remain consistent throughout the manuscript.

Please number pages. Upload text, tables, and graphics as separate files. Do not import figures or tables into the text document.

Abstracts and Keywords: A structured abstract, not to exceed 250 words, should constitute the second page. The abstract should use the following subheadings: Background or Purpose, Methods and Materials, Results, and Conclusions. Review articles may not require all abstract subheadings. Following the abstract, please provide 2-4 keywords for indexing. Please also provide a 2-to-3-sentence summary for the annotated table of contents.

References: Type references double-spaced and number them consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned, not alphabetically. Please include all authors' names. Identify references in the text, tables, and legends by Arabic numbers typed in parentheses, not superscript. References cited only in table or figure legends should be numbered in accordance with a sequence established by the first mentions in the text of the particular table or figure. All works cited in text must be listed and all references in the list must be cited in the text. Do not include personal communications or unpublished data in the reference list.

Journal abbreviations are those of the Index Medicus. The American Medical Association Manual of Style should be followed for style. For example:

Articles: Ajani AE, Waksman R, Cheneau E, Cha DH, McGlynn S, Castagna M, Chan RC, Satler LF, Kent KM, Pichard AD, Pinnow E, Lindsay J. The outcome of percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with in-stent restenosis who failed intracoronary radiation therapy. J Am Coll Cardiol 2003;41:551-6.

Books: Foster M. Magnetic resonance in medicine and biology. Oxford: Pergamon Press; 1983.

Figures: Number figures in order in which they are mentioned in the text. Figure resolution must be a minimum of 300 dpi for halftones and 1000 dpi for line art. The cost of color reproduction must be paid by the author. To ensure figures are in the proper format for submission, please visit www.authors.elsevier.com.

Figure Legends: Legends should be double-spaced and numbered corresponding to the figures and submitted on a separate page within the manuscript. When symbols, arrows, numbers, or letters are used to identify parts of the figure, each should be explained clearly in the legend. The legend should permit the figures to be understood without reference to the text. If the figure has been previously published, a credit line should be included and a permission letter supplied by the author.

Tables: All tables should be numbered consecutively and have descriptive titles, not legends. Acknowledgement of previously published material should be given in a footnote to the table, and the source should be included in the reference list. All abbreviations used in the table must be defined in the footnotes. Footnotes should be ordered as they first appear in the table with superior Arabic numerals.

Permissions: Quotations must be accurate and full credit given to their source. The author is responsible for obtaining in writing the permission of the publisher and/or copyright holder to reprint in CRM any material that has been previously published. Reference to personal communications must be included in the text using the following form (name and degrees of the person(s) with whom the author has communicated, written or oral communication, month, and year). Reference to unpublished data should follow a similar format (name, degree, unpublished data, month, and year). The author must obtain written permission from the source to use such information. Copies of letters granting such permission must be submitted with the manuscript.

Proofs and Reprints: The corresponding author will receive proofs by e-mail, which should be corrected and returned within 48 hours of receipt. Proofs must be carefully checked by the authors, as it is their responsibility to see that all errors are corrected and queries from editors answered. To order reprints, use the order form and price list accompanying proofs.
