Molecular and Cellular Probes has evolved into a unique forum for research on the location, diagnosis, and monitoring of inherited
and infectious disease utilizing genomic, proteomic and immunological techniques. Crossing the traditional boundaries of diagnostic and
clinical medicine, the journal provides an invaluable common meeting ground for workers from a variety of fields.
Special attention is
given to papers dealing with Human Molecular Genetics and Infectious Diseases, including:
• applications of high-throughput
sequencing
• description, application and clinical evaluation of molecular biological techniques
• molecular
biological methods as applied to infectious disease
• characterization of the human microbiome (e.g. using pyrosequencing)
• metagenomics, metaproteomics and microbial diversity
• risk factors in multifactorial disorders using DNA polymorphisms
• mutation detection in monogenic disorders
• prenatal diagnostics and carrier detection of inherited disorders by
molecular technology
• animal molecular studies especially with relevance to human disease
• impact of genomics on
veterinary medicine
• marker discovery by proteomics for disease diagnosis
• protein profiling and sequencing for bacterial
discrimination
• characterization and detection of viral pathogens of humans and animals using molecular techniques
