Description
Learning and Motivation features original experimental research devoted to the analysis of basic phenomena and mechanisms
of learning, memory, and motivation. These studies, involving either animal or human subjects, examine behavioral, biological, and evolutionary
influences on the learning and motivation processes, and often report on an integrated series of experiments that advance knowledge in
this field. Theoretical papers and shorter reports are also considered.
Special Issue Announcement
In keeping with Learning
and Motivation's policy of publishing research articles on current and often controversial issues in human and animal learning and
cognition, a forthcoming special issue will be devoted to the topic of "cognitive time travel in people and animals." Are only humans
capable of remembering an episodic past and anticipating future events, as some have theorized, or can these abilities also be found
in animals? New research with children and with several species of animals that seeks to answer this question will appear in this special
issue. Contributors include Bennett Schwartz, Thomas Suddendorf, Jonathan Crystal, Cristina Attance, Howard Eichenbaum, William Friedman,
Thomas Zentall, William Roberts, Robert Hampton, Nicola Clayton, and Anthony Dickinson.
