The Journal of Sound and Vibration (JSV) is an independent journal devoted to the prompt publication of original papers, both
theoretical and experimental, that provide new information on any aspect of sound or vibration. There is an emphasis on fundamental work
that has potential for practical application.
JSV was founded and operates on the premise that the subject of sound and vibration
requires a journal that publishes papers of a high technical standard across the various subdisciplines, thus facilitating awareness
of techniques and discoveries in one area that may be applicable in others. For more detail on subject categories represented in JSV,

Announcement: Restructuring of the JSV Editorial Team
In 2009 the editorial team of the Journal of Sound and Vibration will be restructured and will welcome several new members. The new structure will be introduced across the early part of 2009 and is a direct response to a continued increase in the journal's popularity with authors, leading to an increase in the number of submissions. The level of submissions has probably also been influenced by the rising impact factor of the journal.
The new structure will employ a single central office and submission point. Papers will be screened for suitability, and Receiving Editors will decide whether full peer review is appropriate. Papers considered within scope and reviewable will be sent to Subject Editors who will handle the peer review process. The structure has been set up in this way to make maximum use of our editors, reviewers and advisors -- all of whom represent valuable and limited resources.
It will also be noted that the regional offices no longer exist. The growth, popularity and ease of online submission have rendered the need for such regional distinctions redundant, whilst the single submission point will help to ensure that all authors receive the same level and speed of service. I would like to note the retirements of Professors Cheung, Bolton and Davies from their responsibilties as JSV Regional Editors, and to thank them for their respective contributions. The Journal has been fortunate over many years in benefiting from the dedication of its editors, often in the face of demanding responsibilities from other directions.
