Guide for Authors
The
European Journal of Combinatorics is an international journal of pure mathematics published eight times per year, specialising
in theories arising from combinatorial problems. The journal is primarily open to papers dealing with mathematical structures within
combinatorics and/or establishing direct links between combinatorics and other branches of mathematics and the theories of computing.
The journal welcomes contributions in the form of full-length research papers, short notes or research problems and any other information
of interest to the community. Papers are published in English, although in exceptional circumstances manuscripts can also be submitted
in French or German. It is journal policy to put strong emphasis on rigour in content and to insist on high refereeing standards. The
journal also pays particular attention to minimising publication delays.
Manuscripts should be submitted by e-mail to one of the
Editors-in-Chief:
Patrice Ossona de Mendez or
Pierre Rosenstiehl
Centre d'Analyse et de Mathematique Sociale,
EHESS, Paris, France
ejc@ehess.fr
Please submit the source file of your article as well as a PDF. All articles
should contain an abstract in English - extensive abstracts are welcomed.
Form of Manuscript. Page 1 should contain the article
title, author(s) name(s), and complete affiliation(s). Page 2 should contain a proposed running head (abbreviated form of title of less
than 35 characters). It should also contain the name and the mailing address of the author to whom proofs should be sent.
Digital
Object Identifier. Elsevier assigns a unique digital object identifier (DOI) to every article it publishes. The DOI appears on the
title page of the article. It is assigned after the article has been accepted for publication and persists throughout the lifetime of
the article. Due to its persistence, it can be used to query Elsevier for information on the article during the production process,
to find the article on the Internet through various web sites, including ScienceDirect, and to cite the article in academic references.
When using an Elsevier article in a reference section, it is important to include the article's DOI in the reference as volume and page
information is not always available for articles published online. The References section, below, shows samples of DOI included in references.
References. Should be styled and punctuated according to the following examples:
[1] K. Menger, Zur allgemeinen Kurventheorie,
Fund. Math. 10(1927), 96-115.
[2] J. T. Scheick, Some problems in approximation theory, Ph.D. Dissertation, Syracuse
University, June, 1966.
[3] E. Hille and R. Phillips,
Functional Analysis and Semi-groups, American Mathematical Society,
Providence, R.I. 1957. (For books, include name of publisher, city, state, country and year.)
For unpublished lectures of symposia,
include title of paper, name of sponsoring society in full, date. For journal names, follow
Abbreviations of the Names of Scientific
Periodicals Reviewed in Mathematical Reviews, Volume 37, 1969 (reprint USD 1.00, American Mathematical Society). Cite references
in the text by an Arabic number between square brackets, as [1], [1, 2], [1, Theorem 1.5], etc. Type references double- or triple-spaced
throughout. When citing an Elsevier journal, include the digital object identifier, if noted, from the article's title page. Please
note the following example:
[4] F. Du Cloux, An Abstract model for Bruhat intervals,
Europ. J. Combinatorics 21,

Figures. All illustrations are to be considered as figures. Figures must be submitted
in a form suitable for reproduction.
Proofs. Page proofs will be sent to the author, with a reprint order form. Authors will
be charged for alterations in excess of 10% of the cost of composition.
Copyright/Offprints. Authors submitting a manuscript
do so on the understanding that if it is accepted for publication, exclusive copyright in the paper shall be assigned to the Publisher.
In consideration for the assignment of copyright, the Publisher will supply 25 offprints of each paper. Further offprints may be ordered
at extra cost: the copyright assignment form and offprint order form will be sent with the proofs. The Publisher will not put any limitation
on the personal freedom of the author to use material contained in the paper in other works.
