Guide for Authors
Cellular Immunology provides an international medium devoted exclusively to publication of original investigations concerned
with the immunological activities of cells in experimental or clinical situations. The scope of the journal encompasses the broad area
of in vitro and in vivo studies of cellular immune responses. These include, for example, delayed-type hypersensitivity or cellular immunity;
immunologic surveillance and tumor immunity; transplantation immunology; autoimmunity, resistance to intracellular microbial and viral
infection; immunologic deficiency states and their reconstitution; antigen receptor sites; thymus and lymphocyte immunobiology, etc.
The chief criteria for acceptance of papers submitted for publication are the originality, clarity, and quality of the work reported.
Submission of Manuscripts
It is a condition of publication that all manuscripts must be written in clear and grammatical
English and be submitted to the
Cellular Immunology Web site at
http://ees.elsevier.com/cimm.
Minimal exceptions will be allowed. If you are unable to provide an electronic version of your paper, please contact the Editorial Office
prior to submission (e-mail:
ci@elsevier.com; telephone; (619) 699-6404; fax: (619) 699-6859).
Each manuscript is
to be accompanied by an electronic cover letter outlining the basic findings of the paper and their significance. PDFs of all related
manuscripts under consideration for publication must also be included with the submitted manuscript.
Authors should suggest at least
four competent reviewers in their field and may also suggest individuals whom they wish to have excluded from the review process. The
list of suggested reviewers should be compiled as a separate document.
There is no submission fees or page charges.

Manuscripts are accepted for review with the understanding that no substantial portion of the study has been published or is under
consideration for publication elsewhere and that its submission for publication has been approved by all of the authors and by the institution
where the work was carried out. Manuscripts that do not meet the general criteria or standards for publication in
Cellular Immunology
will be immediately returned to the authors, without detailed review.
Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to sign
a "Journal Publishing Agreement" (for more information on this and copyright see
http://authors.elsevier.com). Acceptance
of the agreement wil ensure the widest possible dissemination of information. An email (or letter) will be sent to the corresponding
author confirming receipt of the manuscript together with a "Journal Publishing Agreement" form.
If excerpts from other copyrighted
works are included, the author(s) must obtain written permission from the copyright owners and credit the source(s) in the article. Elsevier
has preprinted forms for use by authors in these cases: contact Elsevier's Rights Department, Oxford, UK; phone:(+44) 1865 843830, fax

Types of Articles
Full-length articles are full-length descriptions of original research. The scope may include
basic science, clinical results, or applications. These manuscripts will undergo standard review and normally are not expedited.
Reviews are comprehensive appraisals of research and clinical outcomes in a field of current interest. All reviews are subject
to the normal review process. Please consult with the Editor-in-Chief regarding content and length prior to submission.
Rapid
Communications are brief, definitive reports of highly significant and timely findings in the field. At the discretion of the Editor,
these submissions receive very rapid review and, if acceptable, are published within an average of 2 months from receipt. In general,
manuscripts should be no longer than 12 double-spaced typewritten pages, containing an abstract of approximately 100 words followed by
keywords, a one-paragraph introduction, an abbreviated Materials and Methods, Results, and a concise Discussion. A maximum of 20 references
and four items for the display of data (any combination of figures and tables) will be allowed. Rapid Communications will be reviewed
within 1 to 2 weeks. No significant revisions will be permitted. Rapid Communications will appear in a special section at the front of
the journal.
Letters to the Editor relating to articles appearing in
Cellular Immunology are welcome and will
be published, if found suitable, as limited space permits. All letters must be in the format of other material submitted for publication
and limited in length to two typewritten pages.
Preparation of Manuscript
Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout.
Pages should be numbered consecutively and organized as follows:
The Title Page (p. 1) should contain the article title,
authors' names and complete affiliations, footnotes to the title, and the address for manuscript correspondence (including e-mail address
and telephone and fax numbers).
The Abstract (p. 2) must be a single paragraph that summarizes the main findings of the
paper in less than 150 words. After the abstract a list of up to 10 keywords that will be useful for indexing or searching should be
included.
The Introduction should be as concise as possible, without subheadings.
Materials and methods should
be sufficiently detailed to enable the experiments to be reproduced.
Results and
Discussion may be combined and
may be organized into subheadings.
Acknowledgments should be brief and should precede the references.
References
should be cited in the text by a number in square brackets and listed at the end of the paper in numerical order. Only articles that
have been published or are in press should be included in the references. Unpublished results or personal communications should be cited
as such in the text. Please note the following examples:
