Advances in Applied Mathematics will publish papers in any area of applied mathematics. Particular regard is given to papers
that represent a substantial advance in their field and which are stylistically attractive. It is recommended that papers be preceded
by an introduction outlining the state of the subject and the relevance of the results presented. Well-written expository surveys are
also published.
Submission of Manuscripts
Manuscripts for publication may be submitted to the Editors or to any member
of the Editorial Board. If authors send a manuscript to a member of the Editorial Board, they should also send a copy of the submission
to Joseph P.S. Kung or Doron Zeilberger. Submissions should include one copy of the manuscript, together with an electronic version
(preferably a PostScript file), if available.
Clarity of exposition, readability, and timeliness of the contents are the prime criteria
in accepting papers submitted for publication. Original papers only will be considered. Manuscripts are accepted for review with the
understanding that the same work has not been and will not be nor is currently submitted elsewhere, and that its submission for publication
has been approved by all of the authors and by the institution where the work was carried out; further, that any person cited as a source
of personal communications has approved such citation. Written authorization may be required at the Editor's discretion. Articles and
any other material published in Advances in Applied Mathematics represent the opinions of the author(s) and should not be construed
to reflect the opinions of the Editor(s) and the Publisher.
Electronic Transmission of Accepted Manuscripts
Authors are
requested to transmit the text and art of the manuscript in electronic form, via either computer disk, e-mail, or FTP, after all revisions
have been incorporated and the manuscript has been accepted for publication. Submission as an e-mail attachment (to aampress@elsevier.com)
is acceptable provided that all files are included in a single archive the size of which does not exceed 2 megabytes. Manuscripts prepared
using TeX or LaTeX are welcome; however, LaTeX(2e) is strongly preferred. Please

other specialized versions of TeX or extensive use of custom macros may necessitate conventional typesetting from the hard-copy manuscript.
Hard-copy printouts of the manuscript and art must also be supplied. The manuscript will be edited according to the style of the journal,

Copyright and Permissions
Authors submitting a manuscript do so on the understanding that if the manuscript is accepted
for publication, copyright in the article, including the right to reproduce the article in all forms and media, shall be assigned exclusively
to the Publisher. Upon acceptance of an article, authors will be asked to sign a "Journal Publishing Agreement" (for more information
on this and copyright see http://www.elsevier.com/copyright). Acceptance of the agreement will ensure the widest possible
dissemination of information. An e-mail (or letter) will be sent to the corresponding author confirming receipt of the manuscript together
with a 'Journal Publishing Agreement' form. Authors are responsible for obtaining permissions to reprint previously published figures,
tables, and other material.

Manuscripts should be prepared according to the following style rules. Deviation from these rules causes publication
delays.
Preparation of Manuscript
Submit one copy of the manuscript, together with an electronic version (preferably a
PostScript file), if available. Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout on one side of 8.5 x 11-inch (21.3 x 27.5-cm) or A4 white
paper. Number all pages consecutively and organize the paper as follows.
Title page (page 1)
This page should contain the
article title, authors' names and complete affiliations, footnotes to the title, and the address for manuscript correspondence (including
e-mail address and telephone and fax number).
Abstract (page 2)
The abstract should be a single paragraph that summarizes
the main findings of the paper in less than 150 words. After the abstract a list of up to 10 keywords that will be useful for indexing
or searching should be included.
Footnotes
In text, footnotes should be avoided. If absolutely necessary, identify them by
superscript Arabic numerals in order of their appearance and type them together on a separate page, double-spaced.
Tables
Number tables consecutively with Arabic numerals in order of appearance in the text. Type each table double-spaced on a separate page
with a short descriptive title directly above and essential footnotes below. Authors should submit complex tables as camera-ready copy.
Figures
Figures should be in a finished form suitable for publication. Number figures with Arabic numerals, and indicate
the top and the authors on the back of each figure. Lettering on drawings should be professional quality or generated by high-resolution
computer graphics and must be large enough to withstand appropriate reduction for publication. Figures should not be embedded in the
text. Digital artwork of at least 300 dpi resolution is accepted in EPS or TIFF format. See the journal home page for more information.
Type all legends consecutively on a separate sheet. Color art is permissible, but the extra printing costs will be charged to the author.

Equations
All equations should be typewritten and the numbers for displayed equations should be placed in parentheses at the right margin. References
to equations should use the form ''Eq. (3)'' or simply ''(3).''
References to the literature should be cited by number in
brackets in the text as [1], [1,2], [1, Theorem 1.5] and listed in alphabetical order at the end.

or symposia, include the title of the paper, name of the sponsoring society in full, and the date. For journal names, follow "Abbreviations
of Names of Serials, Reviewed in Mathematical Reviews" (Mathematical Reviews Annual Index, American Mathematical Society).
When in doubt about employing certain abbreviations, use clarity as a guide.
Proofs
Article proofs will be sent to the corresponding
author. Authors will be charged for alterations in excess of 10% of the total cost of composition.
Offprints
The corresponding
author, at no cost, will be provided with a PDF file of the article via e-mail or, alternatively, free paper offprints. The PDF file
is a watermarked version of the published article and includes a cover sheet with the journal cover image and a disclaimer outlining
the terms and conditions of use. Additional paper offprints can be ordered by the authors. An order form with prices will be sent to
the corresponding author.
