This journal aims to provide its readers with a swift, yet complete, current awareness service. This is achieved both by the scope and
structure of the journal, key features of which are:-
• Careful selection of relevant abstracts (and other bibliographic data)
from the latest issues of 4,000 leading international biomedical journals.
• The arrangement, within each journal issue, of abstracts
into separate chapters devoted to a specific topic. The journal covers general, abdominal, thoracic and peripheral vascular surgery,
pre- and post-operative care and surgical aspects of intensive care medicine. Specialist articles on neurosurgery, lung surgery, heart
surgery and orthopedic surgery are not covered, as they are covered in the appropriate Abstract Journal. A new chapter has been added
in 1992 devoted to plastic surgical aspects. The chapter breakdown is by type of surgery with additional chapters on techniques and equipment
and surgical management.
• Detailed author and keyword indexes to allow the reader to locate items of special interest.
