We would like to congratulate Nuclear Physics B Editor, Hirosi Ooguri of the California Institute of Technology, who has recently been awarded the 2008 AMS Leonard Eisenbud Prize for Mathematics and Physics from the American Mathematical Society. Together with Andrew Strominger and Cumrun Vafa of Harvard University, Ooguri has been recognised for his work which relates the number of black hole states to the topological string theory.
The AMS Leonard Eisenbud Prize for Mathematics and Physics is awarded every three years to a work or group of works that brings the fields of mathematics and physics closer together. The award ceremony took place at the Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Diego, California on January 7th 2008.
On behalf of Nuclear Physics B we congratulate all the recipients.
Description
Nuclear Physics B focuses on the domain of high energy physics and quantum field theory, and includes three main sections, i.e. particle physics (including particle physics; cosmology, astrophysics and gravitation; the physics of hadrons; computer simulations
in physics; methods in theoretical physics), field theory and statistical systems and physical mathematics. The emphasis
is on original research papers.
Conference proceedings on the topics covered by Nuclear Physics B are published in the (separately
available) journal Nuclear Physics B -
Proceedings Supplements (NPB(PS)).
