PARTICLE PHYSICS, FIELD THEORY AND STATISTICAL SYSTEMS, PHYSICAL MATHEMATICS
Guide for Authors
Electronic submission in the form of PostScript or PDF files of the complete article is strongly encouraged and will receive accelerated
processing. Figures, if any, should be included in the PostScript or PDF file. Contributions can be submitted at http://ees.elsevier.com/npb
If available please provide us also with the preprint number of the Los Alamos preprint server as well as the version date.
Papers
in experimental high-energy physics will be published in the Rapid Communications section of the journal, and should be submitted to:
Professor W. Bartel,
DESY F11, Notkestrasse 85,
D-22603 Hamburg,
Germany
E-mail: f11bar@dhhdesy3.bitnet
They should be accompanied by a covering letter, indicating to whom further correspondence should be addressed. Please state full address,
E-mail, telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding author.
All papers are subject to refereeing. Letter-type contributions and
unnecessarily long papers are unacceptable. Authors should make every effort to achieve the utmost concision compatible with clarity.
They should make a careful survey of the literature to ensure that papers do not duplicate previous work and that relevant existing knowledge
has been taken into account. It should be realised that the criteria for refereeing are very high. By submitting a paper for publication
in Nuclear Physics B the authors imply that the material has not been published previously nor has been submitted for publication elsewhere.
The Editors and Publisher aim at the following time schedule: within one week of submission the author should have received acknowledgement
of receipt of his/her manuscript. Within two months the author should have had notification of acceptance or rejection, or a request
for revision.
Preparation of contributions
1. Authors should take care that their contributions are written in good
English.
2. Please adhere to the following order: Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract, PACS codes, Keywords, Los Alamos Database
Number, Main text, Acknowledgements, Appendix, References, Vitae, Figure legends, Tables.
3. Please indicate the corresponding
author: full postal address, E-mail address, telephone and fax numbers on the title page.
4. All papers should have an abstract
of no more than 150 words.
5. Please supply us with one to four classification codes (PACS and/or MSC) and up to six keywords
of your own choice that describe the content of your article in more detail.
6. References to other work should be consecutively
numbered in the text using square brackets. They should be listed by number at the end of the article as in the following examples for
a paper [1], for a book [2], for a conference report [3], for a laboratory report [4], for a preprint [5]:
[1] I.R. Klebanov and
E. Witten, Nucl. Phys. B 556 (1999) 89.
[2] J. Zinn-Justin, Quantum Field Theory and Critical Phenomena, 2nd edition (Clarendon
Press,
Oxford, 1993).
[3] P. Di Vecchia, Proc. of 32nd Int. Symp. Ahrenshoop on the Theory of Elementary Particles,
Buckow, Germany, 1-5 Sept. 1998, hep-th/9903007.
[4] B. Potter, DESY-97-138, hep-ph/9707319.
[5] O. Bergman and M.R. Gaberdiel,
Dualities of Type 0 strings, hep-th/9906055.
7. Do not mix footnotes and references. DOI citations. The digital object
identifier (DOI) may be used to cite and link to electronic documents. The DOI consists of a unique alpha-numeric character string which
is assigned to a document by the publisher upon the initial electronic publication. The assigned DOI never changes. Therefore, it is
an ideal medium for citing a document, particularly "Articles in press", because they have not yet received their full bibliographic
information. The correct format for citing a DOI is shown as follows:
doi:10.1016/j.physletb.2007.06.033
For Articles in Press,
please do not include an "In Press" denotation to your citation. When you use the DOI to create URL hyperlinks to documents on the web,
they are guaranteed never to change.
8. Illustrations should also be submitted in triplicate. One set must be in publishable condition.
Figures should be clearly numbered. For colour figures, see below.
9. Use the metric systems of units and abbreviations recommended
by the SUN commission of the IUPAP, Physica A 93 (1978) 1.
Manuscripts.
Manuscripts should be clearly typed with wide
margins and double spacing.
Preparation of supplementary data. Elsevier now accepts electronic supplementary material (e-components)
to support and enhance your scientific research. Supplementary files offer the Author additional possibilities to publish supporting
applications, movies, animation sequences, high-resolution images, background datasets, sound clips and more. Supplementary files supplied
will be published online alongside the electronic version of your article in Elsevier Web products, including ScienceDirect: http://www.sciencedirect.com.
In order to ensure that your submitted material is directly usable, please ensure that data is provided in one of our recommended file
formats. Authors should submit the material in electronic format together with the article and supply a concise and descriptive caption
for each file. For more detailed instructions please visit our artwork instruction pages at http://www.elsevier.com/artworkinstructions.
LaTeX.
If the electronic file is suitable for processing by the Publisher, the article will be published without rekeying
the full text. The article should be encoded in LaTeX, preferably using the Elsevier document class `elsart', or alternatively the standard
document class `article' or the document style `revtex'.
The Elsevier LaTeX package (including detailed instructions to authors)
can be obtained using anonymous FTP from the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network (CTAN) from the directory
The participating hosts in the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network are:
ftp.shsu.edu (TX, USA),
ftp.dante.de (Germany),
ftp.tex.ac.uk (UK).
For a WWW interface to CTAN with the possibility to search the archive, visit the URL http://www.ucc.ie/cgi-bin/ctan/. For a list of hosts maintaining a (partial) mirror of the CTAN archive, see the file '/tex-archive/CTAN.sites' on CTAN. In order
to reduce network load, it is recommended that you use the CTAN host which is located in the closest network proximity to your site.
Alternatively, you may wish to obtain a copy of the CTAN via CD-ROM (see 'help/CTAN.cdrom' on CTAN for details).
The files, as well
as instructions in the form of a booklet, can also be obtained from the Publisher.
The Publisher reserves the right to decide whether
to process a manuscript from the authors' file or not. Files coded in a simple and consistent manner are most likely to be used for production.
Proofs.
A pdf file of the proof will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author 4-6 weeks after acceptance. Please note
that at this stage we are unable to accept large changes in, or additions to, the edited manuscript. In order to guarantee the fastest
possible production times, the corrections should be sent by E-mail or fax, within 2 or 3 days of receipt. If no reply is received from
the author, the Publisher assumes that there are no further corrections to be made and will proceed with publication of the article.
Colour plates.
Illustrations can be printed in colour when they are judged by the Editors to be essential to the presentation.
The Publisher and the author will each bear part of the extra costs involved. Further information concerning colour illustrations and
the cost to the author is available from the Publisher.
