DIFFERENTIAL GEOMETRY AND ITS APPLICATIONS

Peer Review Policy for Differential Geometry and Its Applications

(Please note that this document is meant as an informal communication about our peer review policy and that no legal rights can be obtained from it.)

The practice of peer review is to ensure that good science is published. It is an objective process at the heart of good scholarly publishing and is carried out for all reputable scientific journals. The referees play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of Differential Geometry and Its Applications and all manuscripts are peer reviewed following the procedure outlined below.

Type of the Peer Review
Differential Geometry and Its Applications employs one or two referee's reports for each article, in which the referees remain anonymous throughout the process.

How referees are selected
Referees are matched to the paper according to their expertise.

Referee reports
Referees are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:
  • Is original and in accordance with the high level of the journal
  • Has important results, which are clearly presented and correctly proved
  • Uses an original and powerful method
  • Correctly references previous relevant work

Referees are not obliged to correct or copyedit manuscripts. Language correction is not an obligatory part of the peer review process. Yet, our referees are usually very helpful to authors.

How long does the review process take?
Typically a manuscript will be reviewed within 3 months. Should the referees' reports (if more than one) contradict one another or a report is unnecessarily delayed a further expert opinion will be sought. Revised manuscripts are usually returned to the initial referee(s). Referee(s) may request more than one revision of a manuscript.

Final report
A final decision to accept or reject the manuscript will be sent to the author along with any recommendations made by the referee(s), and may include verbatim comments by the referee(s).

Editor's Decision is final
The Editor-in-chief is responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article.
