General Author Instructions
Each paper should be introduced by three to five keywords and a selfcontained abstract of no more than 100 words, not counting the formulas. Please make sure that the paper is submitted in its final form. Corrections in the proof stage other than printer's errors should be avoided: costs arising from such corrections will be charged to the authors.
Footnotes should be avoided if possible, but if they are included they should be brief and numbered consecutively.
References should be listed alphabetically, as in the following examples: books [1], articles in journals [2], papers in a contributed volume [3,4], unpublished papers [5].

Figures should be provided separately in a form suitable for photographic reproduction and reduction. Lettering should be uniform of size corresponding to the anticipated reduction. Handwritten lettering on figures is not acceptable. Figures should be identified by arabic numbers. Photographs and coloured pictures must be of impeccable quality (original figures or high-quality glossy prints, or photographs showing a sharp contrast). Please note that for colour photographs the publisher will charge the printing costs to the author.

Online Submission
Authors are encouraged to submit their papers electronically by using online manuscript submission at External link http://ees.elsevier.com/topol. The Elsevier online submission service supports LaTeX, Microsoft® (MS) Word® or Word Perfect® files. AMS-TeX is NOT supported. Authors interested in online submission are requested to go to the website and upload their manuscript and its associated artwork. An electronic (PDF) proof is generated and the reviewing process is carried out using that PDF. It is important that all graphical and tabular elements be placed within the text, so that the PDF is suitable for reviewing. This will also allow the preferred position of placement to be indicated, however please note that due to journal conventions, it may not be possible to meet all requirements for placement of artwork. Moreover, the PDF file may be edited after acceptance to follow journal standards. Authors and editors send and receive all correspondence by email via the website and no paper correspondence is performed.

Instructions for LaTeX manuscripts If the file is suitable, proofs will be produced without rekeying the text. The article should be encoded in Elsevier-LaTeX, standard LaTeX, or AMS-LaTeX (in document style "article"). For more LaTeX instructions, please see www.elsevier.com/latex
The Elsevier package consists of the files: elsart.cls (use this file if you are using LaTeX2e, the current version of LaTeX), elsart.sty and elsart12.sty (use these two files if you are using LaTeX2.09, the previous version of LaTeX), instraut.dvi and/or instraut.ps and/or instraut.pdf (instruction booklet), model-harv.tex or model-num.tex (model files with instructions), template-harv.tex or template-num.tex (template files). No changes from the accepted version are permissible, without the explicit approval by the Editor. The Publisher reserves the right to decide whether to use the author's file or not.

Papers submitted to Topology and its Applications may also be posted on The Mathematics Preprint Server (External link http://www.mathpreprints.com). Posting on The Mathematics Preprint Server is in conformity with Elsevier copyright policy and in no way conflicts with submission to Topology and its Applications.
