Overview
Submission of papers:
By Mail: Three copies of the manuscript, accompanied by a covering letter should
normally be submitted to a member of the Board of Editors whose office is situated in the country of the paper's origin. The addresses
are listed on the inside front cover of the journal and on the Editorial Board Informantion. If there is no such editor, or if special
obstacles preclude to any of the above, the manuscript should be sent to the Editor-in-Chief, who will then forward it on as appropriate.
The editor who communicates the paper for publication thereby accepts responsibility for its general high standard, but not for every
detail of its content.
Only after final acceptance a disk/CD ROM needs to be sent with the hardcopy.
Submission address:
Papers should be submitted to the Editor of the Board (not the Associate Editor) according to the paper's country of origin,
as specified above.
Papers will be reviewed and assessed by independent referees.
Submission language: English (Link
to the Oxford English Dictionary http://dictionary.oed.com/entrance.dtl, French or German. Abstracts must be in English.
English language help service: Upon request, Elsevier will direct authors to an agent who can check and improve the English of their
paper (before submission). Please contact authorsupport@elsevier.com for futher information.
Types of contributions: Two types of manuscripts will be considered for publication in International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer:
(1) COMMUNICATIONS:
These are either short reports of new work, or discussions of work which has already been published. Authors
are asked to limit their COMMUNICATIONS to 14 pages, including diagrams. (2) SUMMARIES: These are abstracts of reports, theses, or manuscripts
which are too long for publication in full. Such SUMMARIES (not more than six typewritten pages in length), will be published only if
the original (full length) report is available, either from the author, or, at cost of photo reproduction, from the publisher. A SUMMARY
should, therefore, be submitted with one copy of the original document, and a statement to the effect that reproduction and distribution
of copies is permitted. In addition to COMMUNICATIONS and SUMMARIES, special features may be added from time to time. COMMUNICATIONS
and all SUMMARIES should contain an Abstract in English.
Corresponding author: Clearly indicate who is responsible for
correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, including post-publication. Ensure that telephone and fax numbers (with
country and area code) are provided in addition to the e-mail address and the complete postal address. Full postal addresses must
be given for all co-authors. Please consult a recent journal paper for style if possible.
Original material: Submission
of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously (except in the form of an abstract or as part of a published
lecture or academic thesis), that it is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, that its publication is approved by all authors
and that, if accepted, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in English or in any other language, without the written
consent of the Publisher.
Detailed instructions on manuscript preparation and artwork instructions can be found below. The editor
reserves the right to return manuscripts that do not conform to the instructions for manuscript preparation and artwork instruction,
as well as papers that do not fit the scope of the journal, prior to refereeing.

Manuscript Preparation:
General:
Editors reserve the right to adjust style to certain standards of uniformity. Original manuscripts are discarded one month after
publication unless the Publisher is asked to return original material after use. An electronic copy of the manuscript on disk should
accompany the final accepted version. Please use Word, Word Perfect or LaTeX files for the text of your manuscript. (For further information
about LaTeX submission, please go to http://www.elsevier.com/latex.)

list
Structure:
Follow this order when typing manuscripts:
Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract (not exceeding 100 words), Nomenclature, Keywords, Main text (divided in to numbered sections
and subsections), Acknowledgements, Appendices, References, Figure Captions and then Tables. For submission in hardcopy, do not import
figures into the text - see Illustrations. Collate acknowledgements in a separate section at the end of the article and do not include
them on the title page, as a footnote to the title or otherwise.
Back to the contents list
Text Layout:
Use 1.5 spacing and wide (3 cm) margins. (Avoid full justification,
i.e., do not use a constant right-hand margin.) Ensure that each new paragraph is clearly indicated. Present tables and figure legends
on separate pages at the end of the manuscript. If possible, consult a recent issue of the journal to become familiar with layout and
conventions. Number all pages consecutively, use 12 or 10 pt font size and standard fonts. For submission in hardcopy, print the entire
manuscript on one side of the paper only. Authors are asked to limit their COMMUNICATIONS to approximately 14 pages, including diagrams
and SUMMARIES to 6 typewritten pages.

Corresponding
author:
Clearly indicate who is responsible for correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, including
post-publication. Ensure that telephone and fax numbers (with country and area code) are provided in addition to the e-mail address
and the complete postal address. Full postal addresses must be given for all co-authors. Please consult a recent journal paper
for style if possible.
Back to the contents list
Abstract:
A self-contained abstract outlining in a single paragraph the aims, scope and conclusions of the paper must be
supplied.
Back to the contents list
Keywords:
Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of six keywords (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of'). Be sparing
with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible.
Back to
the contents list
Nomenclature:
The nomenclature list should
be in alphabetical order with Greek symbols, also in alphabetical order and with a separate heading, following the alphabetical listing.
Subscripts and superscripts should follow Greek symbols and should be identified with separate headings. Units should be included only
when necessary for the textural material.
Units:
Follow internationally
accepted rules and conventions: use the international system of units (SI). If other quantities are mentioned, give their equivalent
in SI.
Back to the contents list
Labeling of table columns or axes of graphs:
These should be labeled with the quantity divided by the unit. For example, write l/mm or m/kg
where the solidus means division as usual. l and m here denote the quantities having dimensions of length and
mass respectively. Symbols are used to represent quantities (number multiplied by unit) so that the quantity is divided
by the unit to get a pure number (see Maxwell, J. C., A Treatise on Electricity and Magnetism, 3rd Ed. 1892, p. xvii). Do
not write l, mm and m, kg. (This notation is ambiguous when powers of ten are used.) A column or axis labeled
x 10-14 /(W m-2) or { /(W m-2)} x 10-14 indicates that a number
in the table or coordinate on a graph, say 2.12, means, by elementary algebra, = 2.12 x 1014 W m-2.
Maths:
Mathematical symbols and formulae should be typed. Particular
care should be exercised in identifying all symbols and in avoiding ambiguities. Distinction should be made between the number one (1)
and the letter l and between zero (0) and the letter O. Vectors and tensors should be marked clearly on the manuscript. Equation numbers
should appear in parenthesis and be numbered consecutively. All equation numbers must appear on the right-hand side of the equation
and should be referred to within the text. Use the following sequence of parentheses: )]}.
References:
All publications cited in the text should be presented in a list of references following the text of the manuscript.
. In the text make references using a number in square brackets on the line (e.g. "Since Petersen [1] has shown?") and the full reference
should be given in a numerical list at the end of the paper.
References should be styled and punctuated according to the following
examples: journal article [1]; journal supplement [2]; book [3]; edited book [4], thesis [5]; unpublished report [6]; published report
[7]; proceedings [8], and patent [9].

Electronic Annexes
Authors are encouraged
to submit electronic annexes, such as short videos, computer-enhanced images, audio clips and large databases. Please refer to the Artwork
Instructions (Multimedia files) at http://www.elsevier.com/artworkinstructions for details on file types to be used.
If you are submitting on hardcopy, please supply 3 disks/CD ROMs containing the electronic annex to the editor for review. In the text
of your article you may wish to refer to the annex. This is not mandatory, however, if you do wish to refer to the annex in the text
then please do so using this example: "?see Electronic Annex 1 in the online version of this article." Production will insert the relevant
URL at the typesetting stage after this statement.
