•   Elsevier Honored as “The Most Influential Publisher of the Last 100 Years in BioMedicine and the Life Sciences” by the Special Libraries Association.
• Six Elsevier Titles are ranked in the   Top 20 Computer Science Journals, according to the Times Higher Education, a weekly publication that is devoted to coverage of topics relating to higher education.
•   Elsevier/MC Strategies Online Courses announced as the   recipients of five awards in the 15th annual   Communicator Awards.  This is the largest and most competitive awards program that honors the creativity and excellence of communications professionals.

• Journal of Informetrics (JOI) is the winner of the 2008 Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP) award for   Best New Journal.

• Molecular Oncology board member and author, Anne-Lise Børresen-Dale wins Norwegian Award for Excellent Research, the annual prize for excellent research from the Research Council of Norway amounting to 500.000 NOK. Anne Lise Børresen-Dale ranks among the foremost experts in the country in the field of cancer research, with an extra focus on genetic influence.
  
• Eight Elsevier books were honored with first prize at the annual British Medical Association Medical Book Competition ceremony in London. An additional 19 Elsevier books were highly commended and five received commendation.

• William F. Balistreri, MD, Editor of The Journal of Pediatrics, is honored with the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD)   2007 Distinguished Service Award, recognizing his contributions to the liver disease community.

• Cell Stem Cell named   Best New Journal 2007 – Science, Technology & Medicine’ by the Professional and Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers.
• Dr. Alexander Lawson, Director of Research & Development for Elsevier Information Systems in Frankfurt, receives the prestigious   2008 Mike Lynch Award from the Chemical Structure Association Trust to honor 25 years of contributions to cheminformatics and the CrossFire Beilstein database.

• Published by Elsevier’s Architectural Press, Flexible Housing wins   2007 RIBA President’s Award  Outstanding University-located Research for Outstanding University-located Research. Architectural Press authors Andre Viljoen and Katrin Bohn of the University of Brighton were runners up for the   2007 RIBA President’s Award  Outstanding University-located Research category for their work on Continuous Productive Urban Landscapes (CPULs): Designing urban agriculture for sustainable cities.

• Journal of Emergency Medical Services (JEMS) wins Western Publications Association   (WPA) 2007 Maggie Award for Best Feature Article/Trade for the September 2006 post 9-11 story “Aftermath”.
• Elsevier’s Evolve wins   2007 ANGEL IMPACT Award recognized Elsevier’s unique and creative implementation of ANGEL, innovator of enterprise eLearning software and services.
• The Lancet wins   Publishing Production Team of the Year at the quality in Print Media Awards 2007 recognizes the complete reorganisation of workflow, equipment and software that the team managed in 2006.

• Richard Horton, editor of The Lancet, is the 19th recipient of the   Edinburgh Medal awarded for his significant contributions to the understanding and well-being of humanity.
