This year's Nobel Prize for Medicine was awarded to Mario R. Capecchi (USA, 1937), Sir Martin J. Evans (UK, 1941) and Oliver Smithies (USA, 1925)
"for their discoveries of principles for introducing specific gene modifications in mice by the use of embryonic stem cells".

This year, the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 2007 was awarded to Leonid Hurwicz (USA, 1917), Eric S. Maskin (USA, 1950) and Roger B. Myerson (USA, 1951)
"for having laid the foundations of mechanism design theory".
