Roy Drielinger

Roy Drielinger

Roy Drielinger is an IT Support Engineer at Elsevier in Amsterdam. He lives in Diemen, the Netherlands. In the following interview, Roy discusses his experience of working at Elsevier with us.

How would you describe the challenges of your job?

It is interesting and challenging. You never know what to expect. There are challenges at both a social and an IT level. Understanding the social element of the job is very important. In IT you meet many different people with many different requirements. One person might be more demanding than the other. You have to be very sociable to deal with so many different people.

What is the most interesting thing you have learned while working at Elsevier?

I have learned to be patient. You do not have to be stressed. It is not worth it.

What does working at Elsevier mean to you?

Elsevier is different. This is a flexible working place and I like the people at Elsevier. They are open and social. I believe that is because we have so many nationalities working here. I have been working here for almost 7 years which is the longest work placement I have ever had. I choose to stay because of the people working here. I believe that people from Elsevier make the difference.
