Theme 1: Ethics and values based governance; Identify contemporary ethical issues which face today's organisational leaders; Identify current and emerging social attitudes and concerns that are relevant to your sector and the importance of being sensitive to these; Explore how organisations adopt an ethical and values based approach to governance; Explore the culture and values of your organisation and what effect they have on corporate governance; Identify the leadership approaches that are used in socially responsible organisations to promote compliance with legal and ethical frameworks; Theme 2: The legal framework; Explore the legal framework governing the running of organisations; Identify sector-specific legislation, regulations, guidelines and codes of practice and explore how to keep up to date with changes to these; Describe the legal responsibilities placed on you as a manager, including what will happen if you don?t meet them; Identify sources of expertise and specialists in relation to legislative requirements including health and safety; Theme 3: Promoting legal and ethical behaviour; Develop effective policies and procedures to make sure your organisation meets all necessary requirements; Consider how to communicate policies and procedures and provide support so that people understand the importance of putting them into practice; Monitor the way policies and procedures are put into practice, their impact and maintain them so that they continue to be effective; Encourage a climate of openness about meeting and not meeting the requirements; Review the different ways in which people may not meet the requirements, the risks of this happening and the processes for managing these instances; Theme 4: Essentials of Health and Safety; Describe arrangements and responsibility for communicating the organisation?s health and safety policy in your area; Describe ways of developing a culture in your area which puts ?health and safety? first; Describe the types of hazards and risks that might arise in your workplace; Carry out processes for identifying hazards, assessing risks and for monitoring measuring and reporting on health and safety performance in your area.
