ADVANCES IN THE ECONOMICS OF SPORT

Series edited by
W. Hendricks , Department of Economics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL, USA

Description
What makes this field so interesting is that sports is a metaphor through which an awful lot of applied microeconomics can be undertaken: from the study of cartel behavior, the constitutional setting of wealth maximizing rules, the behavior of firms under uncertainty, the study of productivity and its relationship to pay, race discrimination, cheating, etc. Moreover, data on individual firms (teams) and inputs (players) is readily available to test hypotheses.
