Serial Issue (SI) DTD 5.1
A journal issue (or book series volume) is defined by it's "issue hub". The issue hub contains all the properties of the issue, such as title and (guest-)editors, cover image and cover date, and it determines the order and page numbers of the items in the issue.
The Elsevier Book DTD 5.2 allows us to capture books in XML. It provides a number of top-level elements for chapters and other items, and a top-level element for the "book hub". The book hub determines the hierarchy of the chapters and the page numbers of the chapters.
DTD 4.5 was created for conversion of legacy content. Millions of articles structured in the Elsevier SGML DTDs 2.1, 3.0, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 were converted to XML DTD 4.5.
HTML documentation for the various products. The documentation is created using the LiveDTD system and is based on the AnI DTD 5.11. To view the documentation unzip and open the file index.html in your browser. To view information on an element click on the #.
The Elsevier workflow is fully XML based. External content suppliers receive orders in the form of XML messages, and they deliver the content to Elsevier in a format called CONTRAST (CONtent TRAnsport STandard). The standard provides rules and conventions for dataset deliveries. Each dataset is accompanied by a dataset description file that is structured according to a W3C schema. Since new versions of these schemas are published frequently, they are not posted here; contact us for more information. The latest version of the CONTRAST-in documentation is provided below.
CONTRAST is also used as an output format to deliver content from Elsevier's Electronic Warehouse to online content repositories. New schemas for these deliveries are published frequently. The latest version of the out-schemas for journals and books as well as the CONTRAST-out documentation are provided below.
