Which journal is most appropriate for my article?

A: We suggest you browse through our list of journals, covering all subject areas, by keyword or subject in the Journal Finder. Select your area(s) of research to display a list of appropriate Elsevier journal titles.

Clicking on a title will access the journal homepage, where you will find a description of the journal, including aims & scope, audience and content. If the description, scope and content align with your article, you can proceed to the journal Guide for Authors for further information about the submission process.

Where/how do I submit my article to an Elsevier journal?

A: The journal’s individual Guide for Authors, which can be found on the journal homepage, provides instructions for submission. Note that each journal has its own rules and guidelines for submission. 

If online submission is available for your chosen journal, this will be clearly stated on the journal homepage, along with a link to the relevant online submission system. More information on how to submit a paper is available External link  here.

What costs are involved in publication of an article?

A: The majority of Elsevier titles do not incur any page charges, thus there are usually no costs involved.

Elsevier generally provides free color illustrations for the online version of an article. Color illustrations appearing in printed issues may carry additional costs. Please consult the journal's individual Guide for Authors for specific cost information.

Where can I access artwork guidelines?

How can I check the status of my article?

A: You can follow the status of your submitted paper in the Elsevier Editorial System (EES) using a reference number that you will receive by e-mail.

Once your article is accepted you will be able to check its status in our External link  production tracking system.

How can I check the status of my offprints/reprints?

A: After your article is published, you can track the status of your offprint orders at: External link  http://authors.elsevier.com/trackarticle by entering the corresponding author's surname and the production reference number.

Offprints are despatched approximately 6 weeks after publication. Once the offprints have been despatched, please allow 30-60 days for delivery, depending on local postal services.

A: For any queries relating to an invoice or payment of an invoice, please contact Customer Support and provide the following information along with a full description of your query:

Details of the published article (e.g. journal name, volume/issue, page numbers)

How can I find editor/editorial office contact information?

A: For editor/editorial office contact information, please visit the relevant journal homepage. On the right hand side of the journal homepage, click on the Editorial Board link. Editorial contact information may also be contained in the Guide for Authors, which is also located on the journal homepage and on the journal's EES homepage.

How do I retrieve my EES username and password?

A: If you forget or have no access to your EES username and password, go to the EES login page for the journal, the system can send you an email that contains your Username and Password..

Note: For details on how to locate your journal's EES site click External link  here.

  • Click on the Send Username/Password link.
  • Enter your first and last name.
  • Enter the email address that you used to register in EES for this journal.
  • Click Send Username and Password and your username and password will be emailed to the address that we have on file.

How can I view my published article online?

A:  Published articles can be viewed on ScienceDirect, External link  www.sciencedirect.com.  Abstracts are available here for all users.

The full text of an article can be viewed via an on-line subscription to the journal through your university/institute/library. To check your access entitlements via our contact channels, please visit  External link  http://www.info.sciencedirect.com/contacts/index.shtml or contact your librarian.
