K.J.Bathe Award from Computers & Structures Computers & Structures is pleased to announce that the second K.J. Bathe Award will be made in 2010. This award is named to recognize the outstanding contributions made by Professor K.J. Bathe over many years to the field of computational engineering. The Award includes a certificate and 2,000 euros donated by the publishers of Computers & Structures, Elsevier Ltd. An international panel chaired by Prof. Barry Topping will select the winner. The panel's decision is final. This Award is made every two years during the time of the World Congresses.
The K.J. Bathe Award 2010 will be given to an author of the best paper published in Computers & Structures in the years 2008 and 2009. The author should be under the age of 40 on 1 January 2010. The final date for the receipt of applications is 15 December 2009. Full details of the 2010 Award will be found on the journal homepage
Argyris Best Paper Award The John Argyris Award is awardedfor the best paper by α young researcher in the field of Computational Mechanics
This award honours Professor John Argyris whose research work for more than 50 years had a pioneering impact on computational mechanics both in theory and in practice. The award (presented every two years) recognizes his significant contribution both to the field and to the international journal Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, of which he was a founding editor and editor-in-chief for 30 years. It is sponsored by Elsevier, publisher of the Journal.
An international judging panel nominated by International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM) will select the winner. The award certificate and a prize of 2000 euros are conferred on the winner by the President of the IACM, and is presented at World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM).
The fifth award will be presented in 2010 and details for submission of papers for the award will be announced in the journal during 2009.
