AHMED ZEWAIL PRIZE 2013 - CALL FOR NOMINATIONS!

We are delighted to announce the 4th Ahmed Zewail Prize in Molecular Sciences.  The Ahmed Zewail Prize in Molecular Sciences is awarded on a biennial basis to individual scientists who have made significant and creative contributions, particularly those of a fundamental nature, to any of the disciplines of molecular sciences. The awardee’s research activities may cover theoretical and/or experimental aspects of studies in all phases of matter and biological systems.

Nominations should consist of: a covering letter including a citation describing succinctly the contribution(s) of the person nominated (max 2 pages), a brief biographical sketch, a list of no more than 15 publications. A maximum of three supporting letters of reference may accompany the nomination. All materials belonging to the nomination should be contained into one e-mail sent to the publisher with attachments or into one envelope by mail. Self-nominations are not permitted. Submission Deadline: 1st May 2012.

AHMED ZEWAIL PRIZE IN MOLECULAR SCIENCES 2011 AWARDED TO PROFESSOR WILLIAM H. MILLER

Ahmed Zewail Prize Award Symposium at the ACS Spring Meeting 2011

Congratulations to Professor William H. Miller, winner of the Ahmed Zewail Prize in Molecular Sciences 2011. Thank you to all those who joined us on Monday 28th March at the Anaheim Convention Center, for this special Ahmed Zewail Prize Award Symposium.

The Editors of the leading international journal Chemical Physics Letters are pleased to announce that the third Ahmed Zewail Prize in Molecular Sciences has been awarded to External link  Professor William H. Miller from the University of California, Berkeley, USA, for his outstanding contributions to the theory of chemical reactions.

Professor Miller's research has dealt with essentially all aspects of molecular collision theory and chemical reaction dynamics. Most recently his efforts have focused on developing a practical way of adding quantum effects to classical molecular dynamics simulations of chemical processes. Everyone involved in the detailed interpretation of experiments on chemical reaction dynamics will have been influenced by his innovative theories.

Nobel Laureate Professor Ahmed Zewail, in whose name the Prize is honoured, remarked: "Bill has made fundamental contributions to the field of chemical dynamics. In his work, one can see the elegance of approach and the creative sparks, which were certainly evident in his seminal semiclassical description of reactivity."

The prize was presented during the 2011 Spring meeting of the American Chemical Society, in Anaheim, CA, USA.
