Edited by D.A. Jans
Volume 1813, Issue 9, Pages 1561-1688 (September 2011)

This special issue provides a state-of-the art insight into the basic mechanics of nuclear transport in terms of the players, targeting signals, regulatory mechanisms and important kinetic parameters.

David A. Jans

David A. Jans completed his Ph.D. at the age of 25 years at the Australian National University (Canberra, Australia) and postdoctoral studies at the Friedrich Miescher Institut (Basel, Switzerland) and Max Planck Institut fuer Biophysik (Frankfurt am Main, Germany). He is presently an NHMRC Senior Principal Research Fellow (SPRF1) and Head of the Nuclear Signalling Lab. at Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) where he has been active since 2001. He has authored over 240 peer-reviewed publications (> 7000 citations; H-index of 50) in the area of the regulation of nuclear transport and its role in viral infection, cancer, development, and drug delivery. He currently serves as an editorial board member of Biochemical Journal (since 2006) Biochemica et Biophysica Acta-Molecular Cell Research and committee member of the International Photodynamic Association (2005–2011).
