TIFS Editor Receives Award
Fidel Toldrá, European editor of Trends in Food Science & Technology, has been honored with the American Meat Science Association’s Distinguished Research Award at the recent Reciprocal Meat Conference.
It was said that Dr. Fidel Toldrá had a profound and deep understanding of biochemical meat changes even as a Ph.D. student. His work since graduate school has borne out his abilities and scientific interests. Dr. Toldrá was a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at Purdue University and a visiting scientist at the University of Wisconsin and at the Institute of Food Research in Langford, Bristol, United Kingdom. Currently, he is employed by Instituto de Agroquímica y Tecnología de Alimentos (C.S.I.C.) in Valencia, Spain, where he is a research scientist, professor, and head of the meat science laboratory. Dr. Toldrá specializes in food biochemistry, but has also studied nutrition, food technology, food processing, and food flavor development throughout his career. The activities, affiliations, and accomplishments of Dr. Toldrá are extensive, significant, and valuable to the field of meat science both within his home country of Spain and around the globe.

Elsevier Conferences
Pharma-Nutrition
April 18-20 2011 www.pharma-nutrition.com
Pharma - Nutrition 2011 is the first and foremost platform entirely dedicated to the scientific interface between pharma and food. Key thought leaders from both pharmacology and food science communities will converge to discuss the latest research, concepts and applications of medical nutrition in patient treatment and disease management for the purpose of improving patient outcomes.
The conference aims to combine the most recent scientific developments in flavour and texture research. It will provide a unique opportunity for experts from academia and the food industry to interact and apply their knowledge and latest research findings to the design and manufacture of healthy dairy food
Abstracts should be submitted by 25 March 2011
Online submission is now open for abstracts for oral and poster contributions.
This conference is an ideal opportunity to gain insight into the contribution that sensory and consumer scientists can make towards satisfying the current and future requirements and expectations of modern European society. This conference will also consider sensory evaluation in non food applications.
Online submission is open for abstracts for poster contributions at the 2010 EFFoST Annual Meeting. Posters are invited which cover new developments in all aspects of food and health.
