Virtual special issue on “Light Responses in Plants”
Compiled by: Jean-Claude Kader and Kari Taulavuori

Light, by its quality and quantity, and radiations in their various wavelengths including ultraviolet-B, are among the major environmental factors acting on plant biology. Understanding the responses of plants, either beneficial or detrimental, to light and radiations, will thus contribute to the selection of adapted plants for the environment and for agriculture.

The Journal Environmental and Experimental Botany (EEB) aims to develop our knowledge about the mechanisms of the  adaptation of plants to environmental factors, including light and radiations. The Journal has published numerous papers in recent years devoted to this exciting topic.

In this virtual special Issue, some of the papers related to this field of research are presented. Approximately half the selected papers deal with UV radiation, due to the high number of such papers, whilst the second half of this virtual special issue deals with other aspects related to light and radiations.

We hope this virtual special issue will encourage mutual discussion among experts in this field and will attract novel and exciting papers to The Journal Environmental and Experimental Botany (EEB) in the future.
