Abstracting and Indexing (AnI) Schema 5.12

The AnI schema was developed to allow distribution of the bibliographic databases owned by Elsevier in a standard format.

AnI Main Schema 5.12
AnI 5.12 Product Schemas

Elsevier uses Unicode as the character set for XML. The encoding used in the XML files is UTF-8. Please note that the restrictions of the currently used character set will be lifted. Special characters will appear as intended, for instance ß, õ, μ, ±, ¾, č, etc.

AnI 5.12 Output Schemas release notes

Additional AnI schemas

Below are additional schemas used to transport data from and to OpsbankII, the system that contains the bibliographic databases owned by Elsevier.

CONTRAST transport schemas

The Elsevier workflow is fully XML based. External content suppliers receive orders in the form of XML messages, and they deliver the content to Elsevier in a format called CONTRAST (CONtent TRAnsport STandard). The standard provides rules and conventions for dataset deliveries. Each dataset is accompanied by a dataset description file that is structured according to a W3C schema. Since new versions of these schemas are published frequently, they are not posted here; contact us for more information. The latest version of the CONTRAST-in documentation is provided below.

CONTRAST is also used as an output format to deliver content from Elsevier's Electronic Warehouse to online content repositories. New schemas for these deliveries are published frequently. The latest version of the out-schemas for journals and books as well as the CONTRAST-out documentation are provided below.
